New Breed of SAF Troopers Take Oath

Five hundred ninety-two (592) recruits were added to the elite PNP Special Action Force (SAF) after they formally took oath as Police Officer 1 (PO1) on June 19, 2018 at the SAF Parade Ground, Camp Bagong Diwa, Bicutan, Taguig City with Commissioner Rogelio T Casurao, Vice Chairman and Executive Officer, National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) as the Guest of Honor and Speaker.

In his message, Commissioner Casurao laid before the recruits the rich history of SAF as the PNP’s elite unit and its significant contributions in the fight against enemies of the state and other lawless elements since its creation 35 years ago such as the Mamasapano Incident and the Marawi Siege where the SAF troopers fought well in combat despite the risk of losing their  lives and limbs.

He challenged the newly appointed police officers to live up to the ideals of being a SAF trooper.

The highlight of the activity was the oath of office officiated by PDIR NOLI G TALIÑO, Director, SAF in the presence of the families and loved ones of the new police officers. It was immediately followed by the traditional reception rites to formally accept the new appointed police officers as members of SAF.

The new recruits are part of the Calendar Year 2018 Regular Quota for Public Safety Forces (PSF) to increase the strength of police special forces to help fight insurgency and terrorism in the country.
